Art has always run through my family’s veins. Whether it is writing, acting, painting, decorating, or taking photos, we are always involved in any artistic activity. Our passion for art is very strong and it is what drives us together and makes our relationship very unique and powerful. We tend to amaze others for the incredible relationship we have.
A couple of years ago, my mom published a book of poems called “Cuando no me recuerdes sigue intentando olvidarme”. This book of poems can be found in several Peruvian bookstores and it based on poems my mother has written throughout her life.
Over a year ago, my sister, my mother and I decided to create a short film inspired on this book of poems. We wanted this project to be very professional and for it to portray and express very precisely my mother’s book of poems. We decided to use my sister as the protagonist, who would represent my mom, as she is an exceptional actress and we wanted this project to be very intimate and special.

We put a lot of effort into this project and the process was very extensive but enjoyable at the same time. We started by planning everything out, starting from the cast, to the different settings, the structure, the symbolism, the props and accessories, and much more! The pre-production was very extensive but very productive - it includes tasks such as selecting poems from the poem book, calling Cineplanet Alcazar to get permission to film there, ordering butterflies from the jungle, buying accessories at Surquillo’s market, and creating a storyboard with all the shots we would take, all the locations, all the props, and everything we would need. Once everything was thoroughly planned, we started to film. Sebastián Guerrero helped us with the filming, and we all inputted our ideas and helped with the direction. It was several weeks of filming in which we all had a lot of fun and we learned a lot through the process. We filmed in a movie theater, in a library, in my house, in a combi, in Barranco streets, and even in the ocean (it was winter)!!! We all definitely put all of our effort into this project to make it as good as we possibly could. Once we were finished with all the filming, we entered to the edition and post production stage. Daniel Chirinos and Hector Mezarina, two professional editors, helped us throughout this process - This included from recording all the audio and editing it, to the whole edition of the video. This was a long and extensive process, but with everyone’s collaboration we were able to finish successfully.
All of this effort was definitely worth it. We were amazed with our final result and we didn’t get tired of playing it over and over again. Watching all of our talents combined was something priceless and something that definitely made us really proud of ourselves. Although this video was ready about a year ago, we decided to share it this last week. It was very gratifying to read all of the positive comments on Facebook and how much people had loved it. People not only congratulated us for the excellent short film, but also for the incredible relationship of mother and daughters that we have. This is an experience I will never forget and something I will always be grateful for.
