"New Year's Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change." ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
New year comes with new resolutions and new opportunities. What a better way to start 2015 than celebrating with your friends and family? The point is to celebrate and that the spirit of our celebration is the prelude of how our year is going to work out.
With the ending of a great year, comes a new year full of hope, excitement, resolutions and opportunities. This date is a very significant event for most of us and there are various beliefs and traditions that take place during it. Yellow clothing and accesories, twelve grapes, the running around in circles with suitcases, flourishing baths, drinking champagne, making wishes, and much more. My family is very superstisious, therefore all the rituals and traditions are valid to be certain that the year will be well dismissed and that the upcoming one is welcomed!
When I was little I used to take huge naps so that I was able to receive the year at 12:00am with my family, and as soon as our family celebration was over, I immediately went to sleep. As I grew up, I obviously wanted to spend new years with my friends, so I started assisting to parties and having a great time with all my friends. It was very hard for me to balance every new years eve between my friends and my family; either I received the year with my friends, or I received it with my family. This year, it was different. I was able to have a "best of both worlds" night. A party which conviniently, is divided into two areas: the adults and the teenagers. I could celebrate with my friends, and have my parents close enough to go dance with them, but also far enough to feel away from all the adults. I was dancing the same music with my friends that my parents were dancing with theirs, in a long night full of positive energy, hapiness, music and fun. I said goodbye to the year 2014 and received 2015 in the best posible way I could imagine. The way I started this year gave me the certainty that 2015 will have a lot of surprises, hapiness, fun, and positive things for my friends, my family and myself.
